Summer in Kraljevica: These are days of asparagus
In the early summer, our entire area and the Kraljevica market are green with wild asparagus. It is gently grassy and bitter, and it puts a strong pressure on the wine, which has trouble dealing with it. There fore, the inherent bitterness of asparagus should be alleviated with a fine sauce, or by combing with egg, Kvarner shrimp or fish to smoothly overcome this asparagus/wine gap.
Sardine days with Žlahtina
With Sardine days just around the corner, it should be noted that Žlahtina and sardines are prepared, whether raw, marinated, fried or grilled, Žlahtina's fragrance will always prevail and its freshness will deftly cut trought the fattiness of the sardines. Žlahtina is a superb aperitif that perfectly complements a wide variety of seafood. While it goes best with shellfish and cheeses and can accompany grilled dishes or be used for preparing food in the traditional „buzara“ style, it is the shrimps from Kvarner, squid and demersal fish that are Žlahtina's natural companions.
